Frequently Asked Questions
We don’t want to do posed photos, can we do just a few?
This is a popular question, couples want the spontaneity and journalistic quality they see in the
galleries. We can certainly limit posed portraits, and often do a series of five minute scenes
throughout the day. I find this to be a more organic way to show various looks and times of day
while avoiding the feeling of being on a long photo shoot. I prefer finding a few locations for
photographs and giving the couple a hint of direction and not force obvious poses upon you.
However, if the rain gods are threatening, or more likely, the schedule is less than we allotted for,
I can jump into director mode and can quickly do a series of looks.
How much time should we allot for group / formal photos?
Depending upon the number of groups, but generally 20-30 minutes for family photos and
approximately the same for portraits of the wedding couple and bridal party. Whether or not
to schedule these before the ceremony is certainly up to you. However, doing as much of
this before the ceremony greatly eases the schedule and allows you to enjoy the cocktail hour.
You definitely get a better range of images and more time to spend with your friends and family.
Second Photographer, who are they and when should we consider that option?
The photographers I work with are very capable and most have done a number of weddings
on their own. I still take all of the primary couple portraits, group photos and events. Second
photographers are recommended when the guest list tops 150 and / or we have multiple
locations for preparations and photography.
Will the photographs be retouched?
They will have the look and style you see in the portfolios. There is extensive color and tone
balancing for the various lighting scenes and retouching on the entire set of images.
How many images are provided?
Approximately 1000 for 8hr events, with 1/3 of that going to the Web Gallery for convenience.
All are provided in color, along with a b+w selection of images (15% or so).
What forms of payment are accepted?
All forms, the retainer to book the date is 1/3, with balance due on the day of your wedding.
